Filter fire sets off sprinklers at Waikiki restaurant

A fire tonight in a rooftop smoke filter system caused sprinklers to go off in a Waikiki yakiniku restaurant, dousing about 50 customers and 11 employees.The incident at Gyu-Kaku Yakiniku Dining at 307 Lewers St. forced an early closing but resulted in no injuries, said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.
Three companies responded to the 8:03 p.m. alarm and had the filter fire under control at 8:15 p.m.
