Mayor Charmaine Tavares has nominated seven county residents to the newly created Maui Health Initiative Task Force, which is charged with developing a comprehensive strategic health plan for the county.

The nominees are Dr. Noa Emmett Aluli of Moloka'i; Rita Barreras of Huelo; Gina Flammer of Kula; May Fujiwara of Lahaina; Hermine Harman of Kihei; Alan G. Lee of Wailuku; and Phyllis McOmber of Lana'i.

In addition to Tavares' nominees, the leaders of the state Senate and House will appoint four members each to the panel, which must submit a report before the start of the 2008 legislative session.
