Singer's ailing health postponed Asia's Hawaii concerts

Advertiser Staff

British rock group Asia called off Saturday's "Heat Of The Moment" performance at the Neil Blaisdell Center due to the lead singer's recently discovered heart condition, according to a news release issued by the group.

John Wetton, diagnosed with advanced coronary disease, will undergo an angiogram to determine if the condition can be treated with medications or open heart surgery, according to the release.

Those who purchased tickets for the Blaisdell event will get refunded by calling 877-750-4400.

The group announced that it will postpone the second leg of its North American tour. The shows in Western Canada and the U.S. West Coast will be rescheduled around the 2008 U.S. concert itinerary, according to the release.

In 1982, Asia's album sales exceeded 7 million copies. The group includes bassist/vocalist Wetton, drummer Carl Palmer, keyboardist Geoff Downes and guitarist Steve Howe.
