Duke to play Princeton in Maui Invitational opener

Associated Press

LAHAINA — Duke, which has won a record three tournament titles, will play Princeton in the opening round of the 2007 EA Sports Maui Invitational.

Arizona State will play Illinois in the other game in that half of the bracket of the eight-team tournament, which was announced today.

LSU will face Oklahoma State and Marquette will play Chaminade, the Division II host of the tournament, in the other bracket.

The four first-round games in the 24th edition of the tournament will be played at the Lahaina Civic Center on Nov. 19. The semifinals are Nov. 20 with the championship game on Nov. 21.

The Blue Devils are 9-0 on Maui, having won the championship in 1992, 1997 and 2001.

Arizona State, which won the Maui Invitational in 1994, is the only other former champion in the field. Oklahoma State, Princeton and Marquette are making their first appearances in the tournament.

All 12 games will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

UCLA, which went on to the Final Four, beat Georgia Tech 88-73 in last year's championship game.
