'New Zen for Women' writer talks to interfaith group

Advertiser Staff

Perle Besserman, a Zen Buddhist teacher and author, will address the Intervaith Open Table at 7 a.m. tomorrow at Temple Emanu-el,  2550 Pali Highway.

The Open Table will be meeting on the second Wednesdays of the month through the end of the year.

Besserman, author of "A New Zen for Women," dispels the notion that women had nothing to do with the founding and sustaining of Zen. She shows how women continue to transform traditional Zen in new ways, integrating the practice of meditation into their lives. Sister Joan Chatfield and Rev. Irene Matsumoto will respond.

The free session is followed by a general meeting of the Interfaith Alliance Hawai'i.
