WAIKIKI
Help kids play 'ukulele, read

Advertiser Staff

Volunteers are needed to teach 'ukulele and to tutor students in reading at Jefferson Elementary School at the edge of Waikiki across from the Honolulu Zoo.

Reading volunteers will help create self-sufficient readers by meeting twice a week for 45 minutes in one-on-one sessions. The school will provide tutors with the necessary reading tools under the I Can Read program.

All that's required is a love of books and a desire to help children.

The 'ukulele teacher will meet with about 60 students once a week for 30 to 45 minutes. The schedule is flexible.

Call 971-6922 to volunteer.
