KAPOLEI
$4.8M will add to field capacity

Advertiser Staff

Kapolei High School will see some $4.8 million in improvements to its athletic complex through money Gov. Linda Lingle released yesterday.

The money will add capacity to the existing bleachers that seat about 2,500, which always fill up during football games, as well as an announcer's booth, concessions and restrooms, principal Al Nagasako said. But another $5 million is needed for locker and shower facilities at the field, and two physical education classrooms as originally planned due to delays, overruns and rising costs, he said.

First opened in 2000, the school played its football home games at visitors' fields its first three years.
