Cherry Blossom Cabaret hosts new event, looks for acts

Honolulu burlesque troupe Cherry Blossom Cabaret will begin hosting a monthly evening event at Mercury Bar called Speakeasy beginning Aug. 18.In addition to featuring turntablists and Cherry Blossom Cabaret performers, each event will also offer three amateur performers the opportunity to audition for the burlesque troupe's future performances.
Cherry Blossom Cabaret is hoping a variety of performers will audition, including dancers, singers, actors, acrobats, fire dancers, trapeze artists and more.
Performance spots for the Aug. 18 debut of Speakeasy are closed. But audition forms may be submitted for the event's second outing on Sept. 15.

Speakeasy will be held on the third Saturday of each month. The event is for ages 21 and over only.
Doors open at 9 p.m.; entry is $5 before 10 p.m., $8 after 10 p.m.
Mercury Bar is located on Chaplain Lane (off of Fort Street Mall and Bethel Street).
