Waipio little leaguers lose, but still can advance

Arizona defeated Waipio, 7-4, today, damaging the O'ahu team's chances of advancing out of pool play and into the semifinals of the Little League West Regional Tournament in San Bernardino, Calif.The tournament is for 11- and 12-year-olds. This age group produced the West Oahu World Series Champions in 2005 and is the oldest organization in youth baseball, starting in 1939 and holding a World Series in 1947.
Arizona finished 4-0 in pool play. Waipio finished 1-3. Waipio's fate depends on the result of the Southern California-Northern California game that will be played later today. Waipio gets in if Northern California loses.
In today's game, Iolana Akau homered for Waipio.
