UH announces new urban planning award

Advertiser Staff

Karl Kim, chairman of the Urban and Regional Planning Department at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, announced yesterday the establishment of the Dinell Outstanding Urban and Regional Planning Alumni Award.

The new award is funded by and named for Tom Dinell, an emeritus professor of urban and regional planning, and his wife Kristi, a graduate of the program. The award will be given annually to an outstanding planner who has graduated from the department with a master's or Ph.D. degree in urban and regional planning.

The awardee will be announced each year on World Planning Day in November. Recipients will receive a check for $1,500 and be named on a perpetual plaque displayed in the department.
