By Dave Dondoneau
Advertiser Staff Writer

Firefighters were called to a two-story apartment complex in Waikiki early this morning.

See the scene of the apartment fire in this ADVERTISER VIDEO.

The dwelling, boarded up on the outside and heavily posted with no trespassing signs, is located at 403 Kai'olu St. on the corner of Kuhio Avenue.

Residents at an overlooking condominium called in the fire just after 2 a.m., reporting that they were smelling and seeing smoke coming from the abandoned complex.

Three engines, one ladder and a battalion responded to the call and quickly had the fire under control. Nobody was found in the residence.

The cause of the fire is being investigated this morning. No damage estimates are available yet, but the fire didn't appear to spread to surrounding units.
