NBA: Celtics sign Pollard, House

Associated Press

BOSTON — The Boston Celtics started filling in their roster around their three All Stars today, signing center Scot Pollard and guard Eddie House.

The two join Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce as the Celtics try to end their 21-year championship drought.

Pollard and House ate lunch with coach Doc Rivers before meeting the media today.

"Getting Kevin Garnett has been kind of a big deal, and now that us two are here, you really have a chance," joked Pollard, who appeared in 24 games with Cleveland last season, averaging 1.0 points and 1.3 rebounds. "I'm excited to be the cornerstone of this team."

Pollard was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the 19th overall pick in 1997. The 6-foot-11, 273-pounder has career averages of 4.5 points and 4.8 rebounds.

House played for the New Jersey Nets last season and averaged 8.4 points. He shot close to 43 percent from 3-point range last season.
