Preps: Punahou, Saint Louis co-hosting riflery clinics

Punahou and Saint Louis are co-hosting three rifle camps, including one that prepares shooters for college, national and international competition.The National Advanced Junior Shooting Camp is a training clinic to prepare high school athletes for competition at the next level. Participants were chosen based on prior performance, a mental and physical training program and grade point average.
Eight Hawai'i students, along with one from Ohio, are in the week-long clinic that begins Sunday.
The Intermediate Junior Shooting Camp starts tomorrow and ends Sunday with 20 local high school shooters.
The rifle coach certification course began Monday and finishes tonight with 24 local prep coaches and volunteers enrolled. Coaches can earn a Level 1 credential with completion of the course.
National coach trainers Paul Davis and Drew Rowe are conducting the clinics, and assisted by local referee and former coach Edmund Chang and former Punahou state champions Vicci Yau and Heather Horn.
Yau is a member of the club riflery team at Hillsdale College in Michigan and Horn competes at Nevada.
