Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services will today celebrate 35 years of community service as part of the National Community Health Center Week.

Kokua Kalihi Valley, based at 2239 North School St., addresses community needs for health and social services in Kalihi Valley, which includes four of the major public housing sites in the area. In 2005, about 7,600 community residents came to KKV for health services.

KKV has eight service locations including the KKV Health Center and the upcoming renovation and expansion into the Kokua Health Center.

Lt. Gov. James Aiona, Congressman Neil Abercrombie and Mayor Mufi Hannemann will take part in today's celebration.

Aiona will take a tour of the Nature Park, Kalihi Valley Instructional Bike Exchange Program (K-VIBE) and KKV Health Center. He will also give an 11 a.m. keynote speech at the health center.

Abercrombie and Hannemann will provide closing remarks at 2:30 p.m. The celebration is open to the public.
