Preps: Kauai Challenge launches new sports season

The Kaua'i Challenge Girls Volleyball Invitational kicks off the 2007-08 prep sports season with 24 teams and 84 matches over the next three days.

Play will be held at Kaua'i, Kapa'a and Waimea high schools.

Defending champion Vista Murrieta is one of 11 California schools in the tournament that starts today at 1:30 p.m.

On Saturday, teams will be split into three divisions to compete for division titles.

'Iolani, Hawai'i Baptist, Moloka'i and Oxnard (Calif.) are also competing in next week's Ann Kang Invitational at 'Iolani.

California teams—Buena, Dos Pueblos, Fairmont Prep, La Salle, Los Osos, Murrieta Valley, Notre Dame-San Jose, Oxnard, South, Upland, Upland Christian, Vista Murrieta.

Hawai'i teams—Hawai'i Baptist, 'Iolani, Kalaheo, Kamehameha-Hawai'i, Kapa'a, Kaua'i, Kealakehe, Mililani, Moloka'i, Pearl City, Roosevelt, Waimea.
