Arts benefit for Rehab Hospital program Wednesday

Advertiser Staff

The third annual "Young Artists Helping Young Artists" benefit takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hawaii State Art Museum, and will include an art sale, fashion show, music from Raiatea Helm and a silent auction.

The art sale and entertainment event raises funds for the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific and its Louis Vuitton Creative Art Program, which is designed to foster creativity in current and former rehabilitation patients.

Art may be previewed at the Hawaii State Art Museum from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

In addition to artists who have participated in the Louis Vuitton Creative Art Program, the following Hawai'i-based, up-and-coming artists will be represented: Charity Yoro, Idyllic Photography; Eric Mead, Painting; James Anshutz, Photographer; Erica Spangler, Jewelry; Janine Spalding, Pearl Jewelry Hawaii; Stefanie Bond, Painting; Zak Noyle, Photographer; Alan P. Ness; Michele Leong; Rita Lawrence; Laura Rillera; Fredrika Bunger; Sasha Capone, as well as others.

The art — paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry and more — will be on display and available for purchase throughout the event.

There are two ticket prices for the event. A $50 ticket includes access to the gallery with a standing cocktail-style reception in the courtyard and light passed hors d'oeuvres, while a $100 ticket offers an expanded menu of heavy appetizers, including desserts, reserved VIP seating and complimentary parking at a convenient location. Catering is provided by Downtown @HiSAM, and food will be complemented by Compadres Bar and Grill margaritas and selected wines.

Tickets are available for purchase in person from the REHAB Hospital at 226 N. Kuakini Street. To purchase tickets by phone, call 566-3451.
