Service-learning workshop set for Aug. 25

Registration is going on now for a workshop Aug. 25 with nationally recognized literacy and service learning expert Cathryn Berger Kaye.The workshop, sponsored by Youth Service Hawai'i, runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the McKinley Community School for Adults. The session costs $30.
Scholarships are available.
Kaye is the author of "The Complete Guide to Service-Learning." The workshop will cover the basics of linking service learning to books and inspiring students — from elementary to high school — to improve their literacy while becoming more civically responsible.
The workshop includes the cost of a service learning book and light refreshments.
