Pro beach volleyball to start winter, indoor tour

LOS ANGELES The pro volleyball tour is kicking sand in the face of winter.The AVP will launch the "Hot Winter Nights" tour in January, bringing more than 200 tons of sand and some of beach volleyball's biggest stars to indoor venues nationwide.
Kerri Walsh, Misty May-Treanor, Elaine Youngs, Jake Gibb, Sean Rosenthal, Phil Dalhauser, Todd Rogers and Hawai'i's Stein Metzger are among the players scheduled to participate, the AVP said today.
Two-player teams will compete in a round-robin format alongside a beach festival.
The tour starts Jan. 10 at Oklahoma City's Ford Center and ends Feb. 23 in Las Vegas at Orleans Arena.
Other stops are: St. Louis; Kansas City, Mo.; Milwaukee; Madison, Wis.; La Crosse, Wis.; Minneapolis; Columbus, Ohio; Albany, N.Y.; Trenton, N.J.; Norfolk, Va.; Omaha, Neb.; Rosemont, Ill.; Bloomington, Ill.; Spokane, Wash.; Everett, Wash.; and Portland, Ore.
