More than 1,000 plants will be on display at the 55th annual Hilo Orchid Society Show and Sale that starts today at the Edith Kanaka'ole Multi-Purpose Stadium.

The event runs 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Exhibits using this year's theme of "An Orchid Feast" will be judged by American Orchid Society standards, with trophies and ribbons awarded by Hilo Orchid Society members. Audience members can vote for the first annual People's Choice Awards.

Admission is $4 for adults, and $2 for children age 12 and under.
