Try your hand at jewelry making at The Bead Goes On! from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Hawai'i State Art Museum. The free event is part of the monthly Second Saturday gallery walk — a family-friendly version of First Friday. Chinatown and Downtown art galleries will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At The Bead Goes On!, experienced jewelry makers will show participants how to make a bracelet using colorful glass beads. Also, artist Kloe Kang will be on hand to reveal how artists draw lifelike portraits.

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is on the second floor at 250 South Hotel St., on the corner of Hotel and Richards streets. Parking is available across Hotel Street at Ali'i Place, and costs $3 all day. Enter parking lot on the right side of Alakea Street between King and Hotel streets. Metered parking is available at 'Iolani Palace for $1 per hour.
