Parole violator suspected of Pearlridge bank robbery

By Rod Ohira
Advertiser Staff Writer

A fugitive with 23 prior convictions is being held today at the O'ahu Community Corrections Center on a parole-revocation warrant while being investigated for federal bank robbery charges.

Police yesterday located Kevin Casey Smith, 41, hiding in a hotel room at 2598 Cartwright Road at 8:20 a.m. and arrested him on the revocation warrant, second-degree burglary for being in the hotel room without management's permission, and for investigation of first-degree robbery.

Smith is suspected of robbing Bank of Hawaii's Pearlridge branch on Aug. 3.

Police went to the hotel in response to a tip called in to 911.
