Back-to-school items sought for worldwide aid effort

Advertiser Staff

Back-to-school students are being invited to join the Operation Christmas Child effort.

The organization seeks pencils and sharpeners, small note pads, rulers, pens and solar-powered calculators, as well as toys, candy, and handwritten notes of encouragement. The gifts are then delivered to children worldwide suffering from natural disaster, disease, war, famine and poverty.

Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has distributed shoe box gifts to more than 54 million hurting children in some 120 countries.

Information: Operation Christmas Child, 800-353-5949 or www.samaritanspurse.org. Collection week is Nov. 12-19.
