Reknown organist to play at Central Union

"From Generation to Generation," the Midsummer Night's Organ Concert, will be 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at Central Union Church.

The free concert is the 18th annual benefit for the Hawaii chapter of the American Guild of Organists scholarship program, which provides money for youths to learn to play the organ. Donations will be accepted.

It features several generations of organists, including Nyle Hallman and Margaret Lloyd of Central Union Church, John McCreary and John Renke of St. Andrew's Cathedral, Katherine Crosier of the Lutheran Church of Honolulu, and scholarship recipients Joey Fala and Jordan McCreary.

The special guest will be organist Frederick Swann, national president of the American Guild of Organists and former organist at the Crystal Cathedral and the Riverside Church.
