Kona Blue, a Big Island-based company raising fish in offshore cages, said its Kona Kampachi fish has no detectable mercury. It said an independent laboratory found the fish does not contain mercury to the .02 mg/kg detection limit that is 50 times lower than the FDA's allowable limit."We continually submit each batch of our fish for testing and analysis before harvesting them, and the tests have consistently come back 'undetectable' for mercury," said Kona Blue CEO Mike Wink, in a press statement.
