CHARLOTTE — Shipping and logistics provider Horizon Lines Inc., Hawai'i's No. 2 shipping company, said today it will restructure its transportation and logistics operations into two subsidiaries.

The Horizon Lines LLC subsidiary will continue to be the company's Jones Act container shipping company, while Horizon Logistics LLC is being established to manage the company's integrated logistics services, Horizon said.

The reorganization is effective Sept. 1.

John Keenan was named president of Horizon Lines LLC. He joined the company in 1983 and most recently served as Horizon Lines Inc.'s senior vice president and chief transportation officer.

Brian Taylor will serve as president of Horizon Logistics LLC. Taylor has more than 23 years of service with the company and has served as its senior vice president for sales and marketing since February 2006, Horizon said.

Horizon shares fell 51 cents to $28.83 in aftermarket trading, after rising $1.30, or 4.6 percent, to close at $29.34.
