SINGAPORE — World No. 3-ranked Phil Mickelson will make his Asian Tour debut in the $4 million Singapore Open golf tournament later this year, organizers said today.

Mickelson, of the United States, joins a field that includes two-time U.S. Open winner Ernie Els, No. 5-ranked Adam Scott and 2007 U.S. Open winner Angel Cabrera at what is billed as Asia's richest national Open.

Defending champion Scott, of Australia, is bidding for a third straight title at the Nov. 1-4 tournament on the par-71 Serapong course on the resort island of Sentosa.

Also bidding for the title are world No. 6 Vijay Singh, former U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell, Darren Clarke and Japan's Shingo Katayama.
