A 25-year-old man was reported in critical condition after being stabbed outside a Kaka'ako-area nightclub early yesterday morning.

An arrest has been made, and detectives have opened an attempted-murder investigation in the case, police said.

Police said the victim was "mobbed" as he left the nightclub, near Pensacola and Kona streets, shortly before 4 a.m. yesterday.

He was stabbed several times in the chest in the melee that followed.

A 21-year-old man, who fled in a car headed north on Pi'ikoi Street, was arrested shortly afterward, police said.
