LANA'I CITY
Harbor plans receive funding

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle released $100,000 for the planning of improvements at Manele Small Boat Harbor on Lana'i, which serves as the primary docking facility for commuter ferry and commercial vessels.

Plans will include preparation of cost estimates and environmental documents needed for a new ferry pier, loading dock and other improvements. The project will be accomplished in conjunction with ongoing construction to improve the existing ferry facilities.

The Federal Transit Administration is providing $400,000 in extra planning money. Planning is scheduled to begin next month and finish in June 2008.
