Five-run 7th helps Hilo win in World Series (ages 14-16)

BANGOR, Maine — Trailing 5-1 in the final inning and down to its last strike, Hilo rallied for five runs to stun Canada, 6-5, today in the Little League World Series for ages 14- to 16-year-olds.

The rally started when Kolten Wong coaxed a walk out of Surrey, British Columbia starting pitcher Charley Clark.

The walk did two things: It kept Hilo's hope alive and forced Clark off the mound as he reached the 95-pitch limit in this Senior League World Series pool A game.

It also laid the groundwork for Keaka Pilayo's dramatic bases-loaded, three-run, game-tying double to center field and Jeremy Crivello's subsequent game-winning RBI single to right.

Hilo's 3-0 record clinches a spot in Friday's semifinals. Hilo does not play tomorrow and will play next against host Brewer/Orrington of Maine on Friday.

"We came together as a team and everybody did what they had to do and we came out with a win," said Hilo manager Kaha Wong.
