Wie tees off early at Canadian Women's Open

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu's Michelle Wie will tee off at 9:05 a.m. Thursday and 3:10 a.m. Friday in the Canadian Women's Open.

The 72-hole event is being played at the 6,505-yard, par 71 course at the Royal Mayfair Golf & Country Club in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Her playing partners will be Nancy Scranton and Katherine Hull.

Wie, recovering from wrist injuries, missed the cut in her last tournament, the Women's British Open.

The week before that in the Evian Masters, Wie ended a nearly yearlong streak when she broke par in a round after 23 consecutive rounds of shooting par or worse.

Wie shot a 1-under 71 in the second round at the Evian Masters. Her previous under-par round came in the final round of the 2006 Evian Masters.
