All islands, except Big Island, under high-surf advisory

Advertiser Staff

A high-surf advisory has been issued for the eastern shores of Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i and Maui from 6 a.m. today to 6 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.

The Big Island is not included in the high-surf advisory because it is under a tropical storm warning and hurricane watch.

Surf along the eastern shores of Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i and Maui is expected to be 6 feet to 8 feet through tomorrow.

The increasing trade winds make for rough and choppy surf.

Aside from the Big Island, south shores on the other islands will see surf 2 feet to 4 feet while west and north shores will see surf 2 feet or less. A southeast swell from hurricane Flossie may produce advisory level surf along south-facing shores on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
