Maui forum set on doctor shortage, healthcare access

The Maui News

KAHULUI — The Hawaii Medical Association will present a public forum on Maui to discuss the statewide shortage of physicians and, in particular, access to healthcare in Maui County.

The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at The Dunes at Maui Lani.

Dr. Linda Rasmussen, president of the association, will be the moderator. The panel will include Dr. Alfred Arensdorf; Dr. Howard Barbarosh, president of the Maui County Medical Society; Dr. Anne Biedel, president-elect of the society; and state Reps. Joe Bertram III and Angus McKelvey.

This is one of a series of forums that HMA is sponsoring around the state. Meetings previously held in Honolulu, Hilo and Kona have drawn 100 or more people, so the association requests reservations. Call (808) 536-7702 in Honolulu.
