A free photographic exhibit of and by children in the "Kids Hurt Too" and "ProjectFocus" programs will be on display at Macy's Ala Moana Level 1 and Level 2 from Aug. 22 through Sept. 3.

The "Lost and Found" exhibit, which includes portraits of the children in their communities and also shots taken by the children themselves after they were trained and given cameras, can be seen during store hours, Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

ProjectFocus is a community service endeavor co-founded by local photographers Laurie Breeden Callies of Baby Face Productions and Lisa Uesugi of Utopia Photography to provide emotional healing for children in need.

The child participants in ProjectFocus were professionally photographed and then given cameras and training so they could use photography as a tool for healing and building self esteem. In the exhibit, the children's portraits are mounted next to photos they themselves took of people who made a difference in their lives.

Kids Hurt Too is a program that provides emotional healing for orphans, foster children and children of divorce. It conducts peer groups in which children, teens and caregivers can help one another learn to live with the loss of a parent. The group also offers education and training, as well as assistance in managing the initial crisis after homicide, suicide, accident or disaster.
