Author to talk on 'Aiea in '30s

Longtime community resident and author Ronald Oba will speak about 'Aiea in the 1930s, at the 'Aiea Public Library on Thursday.

The event, titled "A Journey to Aiea Town," begins at 7 p.m. Oba will talk about how 'Aiea was in the 1930s, when the Honolulu Plantation Co. and sugar cane fields were a large part of the community.

Oba, who served in the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team, is also the author of "The Men in Company F."

His oral history narrative is on the University of Hawai'i's Institute of Oral History Web site: www.nisei.hawaii.edu.
