Honolulu caregiver charged with forging stolen check

A caregiver who allegedly stole and forged a check was charged by prosecutors today with second-degree forgery, unauthorized possession of confidential personal information and third-degree identity theft.

Bail for Sunny Joy Mariano, 39, is $20,000.

The alleged incident occurred on May 4 at 8:50 a.m.

A woman, 86, told police her 99-year-old husband's caregiver allegedly forged a check stolen from her purse and tried to cash it at a Kahala bank.
