High-surf advisories in place for Kauai, Maui, Molokai

Advertiser Staff

Increasing trade winds are maintaining high surf and creating a high-surf advisory for east-facing shores of Kaua'i, Moloka'i and Maui through 6 p.m. tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service.

A high-surf advisory for O'ahu's east-facing shores was canceled this morning.

Flossie, now a tropical storm, is sending short-period swells toward the south-facing shores of the islands from Ni'ihau to Lana'i.

Surf along east-facing shores will be 6 feet to 8 feet and surf along south-facing shores will be 5 feet to 8 feet. Surf along west and north shores will be 2 feet or less today.

The Big Island is not included in this advisory because it was under a tropical storm warning and a separate surf report on the dangerous 20-foot surf was issued.
