H-3 cement truck accident touches off traffic backup

Advertiser Staff

Only one Kane'ohe-bound lane of the H-3 Freeway is open at this time following an accident earlier this morning.

At 6:43 a.m., a Peterbuilt cement truck spun out of control about a mile prior to the Harano tunnel. Oil from the truck leaked down the freeway causing extremely slippery conditions.

A Honolulu Fire Department crew has been called to the scene to wash down the road surface.

Traffic is reportedly backed up to the Halawa Interchange.

No serious injuries were reported.
