Baseball: Bonds connects for homer No. 759

ATLANTA — Barry Bonds added to his home run record not far from where Hank Aaron broke the previous mark, hitting No. 759 off Atlanta's Tim Hudson in the sixth inning today.The San Francisco slugger drove the first pitch of the sixth over the center-field wall at Turner Field, tying the game at 2.
Andruw Jones leaped for the 403-foot drive and hung on top of the wall, but the Braves' Gold Glove winner had no chance of catching Bonds' 25th homer of the season.
No. 759 came across the street from the former site of Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, where Aaron broke Babe Ruth's homer record in April 1974 with the 715th of his career. The Hammer, now a senior vice president with the Braves, wound up with 755.
The Braves' former stadium was torn down after the 1996 season and replaced by a parking lot. There is a marker at the spot of Aaron's landmark homer.
Bonds broke Aaron's record last week in San Francisco. While Aaron made a videotape offering his congratulations to the new home run king, there's no indication the two have met in person.
The Braves said Aaron was traveling this week and wouldn't return until after the Giants left Atlanta.
