The 3 a.m. accident at Kuikahi and Philip streets damaged a utility pole, causing a power outage in the area. Hawaiian Electric Power Company, Inc. restored power to most of the McCully area by 4 a.m.

Crews are still working to restore power to Washington Middle School.

Traffic is being rerouted through the area. Repairs are expected to take most of the morning, police said.
