UH men's basketball signs 6-8 forward

Advertiser Staff

Bill Amis, a 6-foot-8 forward from Pratt Community College (Kan.), signed a scholarship agreement today to play with the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team.

Amis will be eligible for the Rainbow Warriors as a sophomore for the upcoming 2007-08 season.

He averaged 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, and had a field goal shooting percentage of .531 as a freshman at Pratt last season.

"He has great upside, having grown from 6-6 in high school to almost 6-9," Hawai'i head coach Bob Nash said. "He's an athletic forward with multiple skills, a good ball handler and shoots well in transition."

Amis is the fifth new recruit to join the 'Bows as a scholarship player for the 2007-08 season.

The others are: Paul Campbell, a 6-foot-10 power forward; Conrad Fitzgerald, a 6-4 wing player; Adhar Mayen, a 6-7 small forward; Kareem Nitoto, a 6-3 point guard.
