Redman joins Rock the Bells hip-hop fest at Blaisdell

Advertiser Staff

Redman has been added to the Honolulu stop of the multi-act hip-hop tour Rock the Bells.

The Sept. 1 concert at Blaisdell Arena will also feature sets by Supernatural, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and headliners Wu-Tang Clan.

Redman had a well-received run of solo albums for the DefJam label in the '90s, blending rap with heavy funk influences and a knack for creatively witty narcissistic lyrics. He is perhaps best known for his partnerships with the Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man on projects successful — the top-selling 1999 collaborative CD "Blackout" — and not so successful — the short-lived 2003 Fox sitcom "Method & Red."

In 2002, Redman paired with Christina Aguilera for the title track from her sophomore CD "Dirrty."

Tickets priced at $35, $45 and $50 are on sale online at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 877-750-4400 and at all Ticketmaster outlets.

Showtime is 7 p.m.
