Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i will receive nearly $1.3 million from the Department of Homeland Security to support security and disaster preparedness efforts, according to a news release issued by U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye's office.

The state Transportation Department will receive $764,625 of the amount for port security, with Shell Oil Products, U.S. (Honolulu) getting about $23,170 for the same purpose.

The remaining $501,570 is from the federal agency's emergency management performance grant program, which supports state and local emergency management and preparedness for a range of threats and hazards, the release said.
