Author to detail environmentally friendly landscaping

Advertiser Staff

Best-selling author and organic lawn care pioneer Paul Tukey will address the Oahu Master Gardeners this afternoon at Urban Garden Center, 955 Kamehameha Highway.

Tukey, whose book "The Organic Lawn Care Manual" was released in February, is traveling the nation as part of a 50-state tour to discuss environmentally friendly lawn care and landscaping. He says Hawai'i is particularly susceptible to the dangers of chemically based lawn care.

"With supplies of fresh water extremely limited on Hawai'i's islands, homeowners and lawn care professionals shouldn't be wasting the resource on lawns," Tukey said in a news release. "My talk will focus on techniques that require far less water, fertilizer and other resources."

For more information about attending the event, which gets under way at 1 p.m., call Joni White at (808) 551-1427.
