2 men released in Honolulu extortion probe

Advertiser Staff

Two men arrested yesterday for allegedly using an electric stun gun in a kidnap and extortion attempt were released from police custody early tonight pending further investigation.

The men, ages 19 and 27, from Kalihi and Kaka'ako, respectively, were released at about 6 p.m. They were arrested at 4:45 p.m. yesterday at 420 Ward Ave.

One of the men had an electric stun gun, which was recovered by police.

A man, 59, told police the pair confronted him at a bus stop, handed him papers saying he owed $20,000, demanded full payment from him, and tried to force him into a car.
