It's a beauty pageant where boys — and former boys — are more than welcome to enter. The catch? They have to dress like women. Beauty queens, to be specific. Intrigued? Join "Hawai'i's elite gender illusionists" as they take the stage at Hula's Bar & Lei Stand at 8:45 tonight for a party celebrating the release of the 24th annual Universal ShowQueen Pageant DVD. Scheduled to strut their stuff live are 2007 ShowQueen Maddalynn Ashton, Aiko, Sharee L'amour, Keisha and Kaina Jacobs. Some of the them are even slated to perform. For the DVD trailer, go to www.UniversalShowQueenDVD.com.

POWER HUE

COLOR MY WORLD WITH PINK

Pink laptops. Pink MP3 players. Pink furniture. Barbie was on to something, after all. From Dell to KitchenAid to Motorola, retailers everywhere have embraced pink, that once-girly shade associated with flamingos and Pepto-Bismol, more than ever before.

Just why are so many products appearing in pink? Because that's what bored-with-black-and-white consumers want, according to Jack Bredenfoerder, president of the Color Marketing Group in Alexandria, Va.

"It's more about customization," says Bredenfoerder. "Pink is coming to the top of the list because it's been adopted as a power color."

FINAL WORD

"I reject the entire notion of maturity. Nothing is funny that is mature. Isn't it all just doing things wrong and screwing up and learning lessons?
