Hawaii team wins Babe Ruth World Series opener

Honolulu got off to a strong start, overcame a six-run fourth by Augusta, and held on to defeat the Maine team, 10-7, today in the Babe Ruth World Series for 13- and 15-year-olds in Andalusia, Ala.Honolulu, composed of Punahou School players, scored four runs in the top of the first inning and two more in the second for a 6-1 lead. Another run in the fourth made it 7-1, but Augusta rallied for six runs to tie it at 7 after four innings.
Honolulu then scored a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
After the six-run fourth, Augusta was shut out the rest of the way.
