Police snare drunken drivers

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police, increasing checkpoints on a holiday weekend, arrested 17 people on charges of drunken driving last night and early this morning.

The arrests included a 30-year-old Kane'ohe man who was picked up on Fort Weaver Road early this morning on a felony charge of habitually driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license.

All the arrests occurred between 10 p.m. Friday and 5:30 a.m. yesterday.

Drunken driving checkpoints are expected to continue through the rest of the Admissions Day weekend, police said.
