NFL: Patriots, DE Warren agree on long-term deal

Associated Press

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Defensive end Ty Warren has agreed to a long-term contract extension with the New England Patriots.

"I'm glad that both sides could agree," coach Bill Belichick said last night. "Obviously, both sides are happy with it, so it was executed."

Warren, who made the Pro Bowl last season for the first time in four years with the Patriots, played sparingly in last night's 27-24 exhibition loss to the Tennessee Titans.

The six-year deal Warren received as a rookie was to expire after the 2008 season. The new contract reportedly carries through the 2011 season. The Patriots didn't disclose the value of the deal.

Warren had career highs of 117 tackles and 7› sacks last season when he started all 15 games he played plus all three in the playoffs. He was the 13th player chosen in the 2003 draft.
