Big Island police looking for missing California man

Big Island police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing 23-year-old man visiting from the mainland.

Sean Ryan of California was last seen at a friend's home in the Fern Acres subdivision in upper Puna on Aug. 12. At the time of his disappearance, he may have been wearing white shorts or blue flannel pajama bottoms and likely did not have on a shirt. Ryan suffers from a medical condition for which he should be taking medication.

He is described as 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with a slim build and short blond hair that is curly on top.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department's non-emergency number at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
