Night work planned on Kealakekua road project

Advertiser Staff

Contractors working for the County of Hawai`i will complete the installation this week of loop detectors into the base of each traffic signal at the intersection of Haleki'i and Highway 11 in Kealakekua.

The night work will take place Monday through Wednesday this week from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists should plan for 10

minute delays at this intersection, county officials said.

Loop detectors sense cars as they approach the intersection and program the traffic signal to turn green. The sensors will replace the tiny cameras currently positioned above the

traffic signals.

For updates, when they occur, please call the Public Works Informational Hot Line at (808) 334-9559.
